Final Two Fairhope Farmers Markets

The Fairhope Farmers Market season wraps up soon, and there are two chances left to catch it: Thursday, June 25, and Thursday, July 2. Both markets run from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. behind the Fairhope Public Library.

Expect local produce, baked goods, handmade crafts, honey, flowers and more. It’s an easy way to stock up on snacks for the rental and support local farmers, makers and small businesses.

The June 25 market has some extras. Live music plays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and kids can get free face painting. To mark America’s 250th anniversary, patriotic memorabilia will also be on hand while supplies last.

Museum Speaker Series This Saturday

On Saturday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m., the Fairhope Museum of History hosts a free talk in its Council Chamber. It’s open to the public.

The talk is called “You Are Electric: The Science That Will Change How You Think About Nature.” The speaker, Dr. Diana Sturm, holds a PhD in geology and has a background in geophysics. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama.

Her specialty is somatic approaches to trauma and stress. That includes Somatic Tapping, her own method that combines breathwork and tapping. If you’d like a low-key afternoon indoors, this is a good one to add to your plans.

Red, White & 250 Independence Day Celebration

Fairhope’s Independence Day celebration is Saturday, July 4, at Henry George Park and the Fairhope Municipal Pier.

The Baldwin Pops take the stage at 7:30 p.m., and fireworks begin at 9:00 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket and get settled in before the music starts.

Open Archives Exhibit Coming to the Fairhope Museum of History

The Fairhope Museum of History is setting up a new temporary exhibit called the Open Archives. It’s part of the museum’s America250 events.

Over the next few weeks, the 3D exhibit on the museum’s second floor will come down to make room for it. The new display will show some of the most interesting objects from Fairhope’s past, including:

Military uniforms, a Civil War artillery shell, early 20th-century medical equipment, a telegraph key and “Fairhope’s first cell phone.”

If you visit the museum during your stay, check the second floor to see how the changeover is going. For more ideas, see our list of things to do in Fairhope.

Free Downtown Fairhope Shuttle

A free shuttle runs in the Fairhope Business District, Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To catch a ride, call 251-850-6348. It’s a handy option for getting between shops and lunch spots without moving your car.
