Fairhope Rotary Steak Cook-off
Get ready for some serious barbecue competition on Saturday, May 10, from 7 to 10 PM in downtown Fairhope. Thirty-four cook teams will battle it out for the best steak in town, and you get to be the judge.
You’ll taste samples from each team and vote for your favorite. It’s a fun evening that also supports a great cause — proceeds fund local scholarships, playgrounds, and community programs.
Plan your route ahead of time since parts of Bancroft Street and all of Johnson Avenue will be closed during the event. Get your tickets here.
Hurricane Preparedness with James Spann
If you’re staying through early June, don’t miss this free hurricane preparedness session on June 3rd at 10 AM. Meteorologist James Spann from Birmingham will share essential safety strategies at the Fairhope Civic Center.
Doors open at 9 AM, and they’ll serve lunch afterward. Since you’re visiting coastal Alabama, this is valuable information about staying safe during storm season. You’ll learn what to do before, during, and after a hurricane hits the area.
Safe Streets and Roads Survey
The city wants your input on making Fairhope safer for everyone — walkers, cyclists, and drivers. They’re developing a comprehensive safety plan using federal grant funding.
As a visitor experiencing the streets firsthand, your perspective matters. Share your thoughts in their survey.
Girl’s Night Out Downtown
Even though event tickets sold out, you can still enjoy the festivities on Thursday, May 8th from 4 to 8 PM. Downtown shops will stay open late, perfect for browsing unique local finds.
Grab dinner and drinks at local restaurants while you explore. A DJ will be spinning music at the Welcome Center, creating a lively street party atmosphere perfect for an evening stroll.
Fairhope Farmers Market
Every Thursday from 3 to 6 PM behind the public library, you’ll find fresh local produce, baked goods, honey, and locally raised beef. Kids will love the weekly activities and giveaways.
It’s a great way to stock up on fresh ingredients if you’re staying somewhere with a kitchen. Plus, you’ll be supporting local farmers and getting a true taste of the area’s agricultural offerings.
Quail Creek Golf Course Updates
Starting May 5th, Quail Creek is upgrading their main putting green and front nine greens to premium Tif Eagle grass. You’ll play on temporary greens with larger cups and a two-putt maximum rule until the project wraps up in August 2025.
The back nine stays open and unchanged during construction. Check their updates on Facebook for the latest progress.
Pickleball Summer Camps
If you’re traveling with kids ages 8-17, sign them up for pickleball camp at Mike’s Tennis Center from June 3-5, running 8 AM to 10 AM daily. All skill levels welcome.
It’s a fun way to keep the kids active during your stay. Call 251-990-9526 or visit the center to reserve their spot.
Mike Ford Tennis Center Improvements
New pickleball courts and LED lighting will debut at Mike Ford Tennis Center in early July. These upgrades will create better playing conditions for both tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.
If you’re a racquet sports fan planning a summer visit, these improvements will make for an even better playing experience in Fairhope’s sports facilities.
Water System Upgrades Complete
The water tank near Walmart is back in service after recent upgrades. This is part of a $44 million investment in water and wastewater improvements happening throughout 2025.
These infrastructure improvements ensure reliable water service across Fairhope, including the areas where you’re staying during your visit.
