Lighting of the Trees
Fairhope’s holiday season officially kicks off with the Annual Lighting of the Trees on Thursday, November 20th. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. downtown, building to the main moment at 6:00 p.m. when thousands of white lights illuminate Fairhope’s iconic oak trees all at once.
This is one of the town’s most beloved traditions — the kind of evening that makes Fairhope feel like a storybook. If you’re visiting in mid-to-late November, it’s worth planning your arrival around it. The downtown location is a short walk or golf cart ride from most FFVR properties.
Movie in the Street
Downtown Fairhope transforms into an outdoor theater on Saturday, November 22nd at 6:30 p.m. for this beloved annual tradition. This year’s feature is The Grinch, screened right at the intersection of Section Street and Fairhope Avenue.
Pack your lawn chairs and blankets for this free community event. Kids are welcome to wear holiday pajamas to get into the festive spirit. Arrive early to claim a good viewing spot in the heart of downtown.
The movie location is walkable from many downtown accommodations or just a short golf cart ride from other areas. More details here.
Annual Christmas Open House
Fairhope kicks off a new tradition on Sunday, November 23rd from 1–5 p.m. with the launch of “We Believe in Fairhope” — a four-year campaign celebrating what makes this community special.
The first limited-edition commemorative button debuts at the Christmas Open House. Stop by the Welcome Center to snag one free while supplies last. It’s the start of a collectible series released annually at different Fairhope events.
The timing pairs perfectly with exploring downtown’s holiday decorations and seasonal offerings. Event details available here.
